The May edition of the DataDot dispatch highlights the exciting developments and initiatives involving both DataDot and Datatrace.

 

Europe

A special conference is being held in Brussels in July where members of the European parliament will consider a proposal to adopt Whole Of Vehicle Marking (WOVM). This follows the adoption and trials of microdot marking in New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Poland, South Africa and Russia. Security_April_2007.pdf

 

The US
A new, nanotechnology-enabled color barcode system developed by Microsoft will find its way onto DVDs later this year. DatatraceDNA will embed nanoparticles into the code as an anti-counterfeiting measure. This nanotechnology will be integrated into the structure of the code and packaging. click here

Australia

The Daily Telegraph runs a major article detailing the cost of the illegal spare parts industry and how police are backing calls for better all over car identification. Car companies using Microdot technology have provided "prima facie" evidence of reducing car theft daily_telegraph.pdf

 

The Australian Royal Flying Doctor Service (Qld section) have launched a partnership with DataDot Commercial Pty Ltd in order to raise much needed funds for the RFDS. An ABC radio interview with Dr Peter Toyne (former Attorney General) sees him discussing tackling the issue of exploitation of Indigenous art and artists, by working with both DataDot and Datatrace technologies.
